Security & 2FA

Everything you need to know about securing your account, managing two-factor authentication, and keeping your activity safe.

Your security is your responsibility

RutoWallet provides a full suite of security tools to protect your account. Enabling them is optional, but strongly recommended. The more layers of protection you have, the harder it is for anyone to gain unauthorized access.

All security settings are managed from your Security page inside the Dashboard. You can access it at any time after logging in.

Security features

Two-factor authentication (2FA)

Adds a second layer of verification using an authenticator app. Required to confirm sensitive actions when enabled.

Transaction passcode

A 6-digit PIN required to authorize withdrawals and transfers. Separate from your login password.

Password management

Change your account password at any time from the Security page. Use a strong, unique password.

Active devices

View all devices currently logged into your account and revoke access from any you do not recognize.

Recent activity log

Review a log of recent security events on your account including logins, password changes, and 2FA actions.

Notification preferences

Control which security and wallet events trigger push or email notifications so you are always informed.

How to enable two-factor authentication

1

Go to Security Settings

Log in to your account and navigate to the Security page from your Dashboard.

Open Security
2

Install an authenticator app

Download an authenticator app such as Google Authenticator, Authy, or Microsoft Authenticator on your mobile device.

3

Scan the QR code or enter the secret

Toggle 2FA on in your Security settings. A QR code and a manual secret key will be displayed. Scan the QR code with your authenticator app or enter the key manually.

4

Enter the 6-digit code to confirm

Your authenticator app will generate a 6-digit code. Enter it to confirm and activate 2FA on your account. From this point, every login and sensitive action will require this code.

Transaction passcode

The transaction passcode is a 6-digit PIN that is required every time you initiate a withdrawal or transfer. It is separate from your login password and adds a critical layer of protection against unauthorized transactions.

You can set, change, or reset your transaction passcode from the Security page. If you forget it, a reset code will be sent to your registered email address.

Manage Transaction Passcode

Security best practices

  • Enable 2FA immediately after creating your account.
  • Set a transaction passcode before making any withdrawals.
  • Use a strong, unique password that you do not use on any other platform.
  • Regularly review your active devices and revoke any you do not recognize.
  • Never share your password, 2FA codes, or transaction passcode with anyone.
  • RutoWallet will never ask for your credentials or codes via email, phone, or chat.
  • Check your recent activity log periodically for any unfamiliar events.
